about
The expansive first single from the debut Kalaji album, Yoolbooroo
(long ago) is an ethereal and gothic descent into swirling analog polyphony and rhythmic organic percussion layers, all building and interweaving beneath fragments of fragile vocals and spoken word. The song is a dreamlike confession and attempt to illustrate encounters within nature that remain unexplainable.

Dearest Arooj, firstly thank you. My brother died this year n what can be said about such loss n sadness. I saw n heard you at The end of the Road in England. I spent many years in India n love all the music, poetry of your heritage. Thankyou Arooj❤️ ben1769

Stunning synthwork and chaotic rhythms define the excellent new album from Racine, which feels set in a waking nightmare. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 3, 2020

One of the biggest surprises in 2022.
Her smokey, at times raspy but always powerful voice is one in a million and enthralled me right from the start.
There's something paradoxical about this album, but in a good way. It calms me down and lifts me up. It sounds fresh but also rugged and torn. It's hard to explain, but the bottom line is: I can't get enough of it. Roland
